THE STALLION

In desert or emerald hilltops and mountain plains, Leading herd or alone, until lasso restrains… Stamina is harnessed for cavalry or farm, City police duty to stay steady and calm. At wedding or funeral, or circus prancing star, On coronation day, or hunting fox afar. Oil palettes brush white, storm, bold black, blaze patch and bay, Revered on a pedestal in bronze, stone and clay. Proudly, at fifteen hands stands wise disposition, Head set on solid neck to house intuition. Barrel chest, quarters lean, abundant mane and tail Recapture wind's spirit as hooves dust up the trail. In thought galloping, wild, unworried in the least. Of all four footed flesh distinguished among beast. Frank Corso
