Wilderness Ways

So many times I wish to be away, alone Somewhere in the deep Wilderness to roam To follow long forgotten pathways past magnificent trees To hear the myriad of natures sounds again Sometimes just to stand in cool summer rain Ahh the quiet sounds that soothe the heart Buzzing bees and jumping fish in stream that start Then to sit upon a log and watch a swimming little green frog Tadpoles too they wriggle by Great brown eagles that hover high in the sky This glorious day to hear sounds of a chorus of birds Sometimes a deer calls to the heard Kangaroos and Wallabies hop on precarious rocky hills Wombats digging burrows, gruffly with sharp paws Goannas holding trees with claws Spiders scurry so fast on the ground And tiny insects make for a safer mound The bush turkey scratching and foraging for food So many beautiful things in the Wilderness mood I look out upon a hilltop place See vast horizons with browns and greens, such wonderful grace The beautiful sunset comes with light her fingers of red Many feed and scurry, frantically, just before bed Now the beautiful stars come out to play And hungry night owls hoot for tasty prey Crickets sing their symphony of absolute peace Ahh the mind in wilderness so much release Native cats with babies that cling Shiver and forage for insects and things Tasmanian Devils scream their happy scowl And scavenge and fight with a scary growl Emus run and thump the ground Fruit bats screech, search for tasty sounds Little possums call their lovers songs And little things are busy all night long O what a place my Wilderness can be A place where animals and man can live, be free Some where away from all the city mess All the strife, the toil and the stress So come one, come all, just come with me To my Wilderness..... lets just for a day,be totally free Antipodi
